MyPengo's hot artist: Mario

Despite growing up in a difficult situation Mario had the dedication, talent and support to make it. His mom saw how much her son loved music and despite hardships was able to get her son a karaoke machine for his 4th birthday. Mario got his chops singing along to R&B greats and picked up the piano to help develop his own sound. In school he also tried to get as much music training as he could and his hard work paid off with a record contract.

Besides drawing influences from his personal life Mario also takes a lot from his predecesors. Bits of Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke and Boyz II Men all seem to surface in different parts of his albums.

As a thank you to his mother Mario dedicated his latest album Go to her. Mario was given more creative control and put out an album that he described as “more personal... more passionate.” Try listening to the songs “How Do I Breathe” and “Crying out For Me” and it is easy to see how much passion he put into his craft
